JOYA Reminder|Key Operating Points for Flat‑Lamination Adhesive in Summer

Jul. 29, 2026

High ambient temperature in summer may compromise flat‑lamination finished‑part performance. In view of this condition, the JOYA technical department offers the following recommendations:

01 Temperature Setting Tips

(1) Clear PET Film

Set a relatively low adhesive temperature in the glue tank: 110‑120 °C is recommended. Set the platen temperature to 130‑140 °C. Reduce coating weight by adjusting speed ratio, slowing down the metering roller, and narrowing the gap of the applicator roller, so as to improve yield rate. Optimal temperature parameters shall be evaluated on‑site based on initial bonding strength and vacuum chuck suction force.

(2) Textured Film

Lower glue‑tank temperature to approx. 95‑110 °C, meanwhile increase coating weight. Lower temperature raises adhesive viscosity, which improves initial bonding strength and coating weight. This ensures adhesive fills gaps within the textured film, preventing subsequent blistering and edge‑shrinkage caused by insufficient initial tack. Besides, set the compression roller pressing depth above 120 μm.

(3) Solid Wood Board

Solid wood boards feature relatively large surface tolerance. Lower glue‑tank temperature to approx. 95‑110 °C and increase coating weight. Reduced temperature increases adhesive viscosity and initial bonding strength with higher coating weight. This avoids spring‑back and blistering defects resulting from insufficient initial tack due to large substrate tolerance.

(4) SPC Board

For high‑density substrates such as impact‑resistant boards with heavy release‑agent residue, high‑power corona treatment is strongly suggested, or apply primer coating.

(5) Low‑dyne‑level Films

Carry out corona treatment, or select films with pre‑applied back‑coating.

Coating‑Weight Control

  1. Adjust metering‑roller rotation speed: slower rotation reduces coating weight.

  2. Increase the speed of the smoothing roller to cut coating weight.

  3. Lower the smoothing roller position to reduce coating weight. Control the height properly; avoid excessive downward displacement which may cause local adhesive starvation on panels.

  4. Adjust speed ratio between base roller and applicator roller. Moderately raise base‑roller speed for lower coating weight. Keep the speed‑difference within reasonable limits; excessive speed difference will trigger uneven coating and adhesive starvation.

Compression Roller

Apply heavy compression for deeply‑textured films and substrates with large dimensional tolerance.

Curing Room & Oven Operation

  1. When ambient temperature exceeds 35 °C in summer, transfer finished panels into the curing room for conditioning.

  2. Implement humidification if relative humidity drops below 30%.

  3. For production environments above 35 °C in summer, deploy physical cooling (air‑conditioners, cooling fans, etc.). Ensure the temperature of laminated panels is below 35 °C upon exiting the machine.

  4. Completed panels shall be sent to the curing room for conditioning and cooling. Shipment is permitted only after bonding strength passes inspection. Require peel strength ≥40 N per 2.5 cm width before delivery. Prevent direct sunlight exposure during transportation.

Note: These operating guidelines are rational recommendations based on product characteristics. Due to variations in customer‑side raw‑material inputs and process conditions, parameters shall be adjusted for actual production scenarios. Customers must conduct pre‑production trials and verification to confirm suitability of adhesives and process parameters before mass production.
